Information for the Industrial event (DSM)

The industrial event on Tuesday January 29th will take place at DSM in Geleen, NL.

For the students who participate, we ask that they stay in Maastricht on Monday night, January 28th. We will then arrange transit from Maastricht to DSM (on the morning of 29th of January) and then from DSM to Vaalsbroek (in time to arrive for diner on Tuesday 29th of January).

Thus rooms have been booked at the Townhouse Hotel Maastricht right next to the Maastricht train station for the students to stay from the Monday to the Tuesday.

Here is the information on the hotel for this night:

If some students choose to travel directly by car on the first day of the event, you can also go directly to DSM on Tuesday morning (we expect to start the day at 9 am). If you choose this option, please answer the doodle accordingly and send a mail to Christine (dodynet-manager@uclouvain.be).

General travel information
For people travelling to Maastricht:

The nearest airport is Maastricht.

There is also Aachen, but it has limited service.

Eindhoven airport is another option. There is a good train connection to Maastricht.

A suggestion is to fly into Amsterdam and then take the train to Maastricht (it has a good connection: frequent, direct, it takes around 2.5 hr).

Another option is to travel to Liege. It also has a train connection to Maastricht.

Brussels airport is another possibility to get to Maastricht via public transit but it does not have the best connections.

Dusseldorf is another option but there is no great public transit connection. However taxis can be arranged (a taxi would cost around 100 euros).

There is also a bus service from Aachen train station to Maastricht.

Those coming straight to Vaalsbroek:

Kasteel Vaalsbroek

Vaalsbroek 1

6291 NH Vaals

We suggest you look at travel arrangements to Aachen, then take a taxi to Vaalsbroek. There is no other viable public transit option to this meeting center.

Aachen is well connected to German train system. It is possible to get trains from German airports (Dusseldorf, Frankfurt).
