Getting to Heraklion

Transport

Transport to and from the airport should be organised individually. Kokkini Hani can be reached by bus or by taxi.

Buses: The Heraklion - Malia bus will take you from Heraklion airport to Kokkini Hani. The bus runs approximately every half hour. The first bus leaves at 06:30, and the last bus leaves at 21:45. The cost is €3.80. More information available here:

Taxis: Taxis can also be taken from the airport to Kokkini Hani, and should cost €21 (to be paid in cash to the driver upon arrival at your destination). You should book the taxi in advance to be sure of the price: http://www.herakliontaxi.com/en/taxi-prices.html

Accomodation

Accomodation has been arranged by the organizers of the event, in the resort village of Kokkini Hani, which is about 14km form Heraklion. As we are a high number of participants, the accommodation has been split over three venues.

Students will be staying at Ideal Apartments. We have made attribution in the different apartments taking into account gender and the length of the stay of each ESR.

Professors and academics have been split between the Elpis Apartment and Pelamare Studios following length of stay.

The Venue

Meetings and training will take place at FORTH-IESL

Daily Transport organization

Shuttle buses will take all participants from the hotels to the meeting venue and back each day. As we are split in different accomodations, the bus will wait for us all at the following address each morning : "Spyridon Patisserie" (Palea EO Irakliou Agiou Nikolaou).

The bus will leave from Kokkini Hani at 12.00 on Friday.

It will leave Kokkini Hani at 8.30 on Saturday and Wednesday.

It will leave Kokkini Hani at 8.15 on Monday and Tuesday.

The bus will leave from FORTH/ITE at 18.00 every evening except on Friday, the bus will take us at 18.30 directly to Agios Myronas (Ethymiko Tavern) for our DoDyNet evening meal.

Group Excursion

 

On Sunday 23^rd, we have an excursion planned on the Island of Dia. The bus will take us at 10.00 from Kokkini Hani to Heraklion port.

The yachts will be booked for the day. It will take around 1h15 to go from Heraklion port to the bay of Dia. There we will have lunch, swim, take a visit and return to the port around 17.00.

At the end of the day, the bus takes us at 18.00 from Heraklion port back to Kokkini Hani.
